I just put my system together and can't get it to boot. I've found out that it could be a bios problem , is there any way to tell what bios version it is without getting to the boot screen. Also is there anyway to change the bios with no boot screen.

it's a k9n2 diamond motherboard with a phenom II x4 955 BE CPU

If you haven't updated the bios, you will need to do so using a chip that works on the native bios(probably v20 or v21), ie an am2 or am2+ cpu. Once updated(at least v24), you can put your phenom II. Unfortunately there isn't any other way to do this. You could request a new board with an updated bios, but I don't know if MSI does that.

Here's a list of cpus and which bios version supports them

Thanks, is it typical for a computer repair place to sell cpu's, or at least be able to use a cpu they have around to update my bios. I'm only asking cause I'm on a engineering internship right now and stuff i have ordered i need to drive two hours to get to at home.
