Sounds like the Kali installation package may not have drivers for hardware on the laptop, especially for USB, video, and/or PCI devices needed at the very beginning. See if Kali has boot switches for various forms of "safe mode" startup which tries to avoid hardware quirks with settings that are generic as possible.
UEFI settings could be an issue, too, so be sure to turn off secure boot to at least get past that show-stopper.
You might try a more "robust" installation distro such as Knoppix, which includes a lot more drivers than most distros (and lots of safe mode startup options), just to see if it can at least boot up from the installation medium (USB drive most likely).
