Kali Linux on VMware playeronly uses 12 of the 40gb?

Kali Linux only uses 12 of the 40gb of storage. Whenever i try to download something it says its low on space and when i go to disk usage its says 2.7 gb of 12.1 gb available. How do i get it to use the remanining space?

Even if you have allocated 40gb as VHD, this does not mean you have allocated all of it for usage.

Asking such a basic question means Kali is not for you. Kali is not a distro for everyday use.
