Kali linux starting Apache2 server

I currently have Kali linux Virtual machine loaded on my windows 10. When i type the 'service apache2 start' command in the console nothing happens. Please help.

first do you have it installed and config'd right and two, what do you expect it to do. if it installed and starts the service, it will simply then be hosting whatever is in the /home/var/apache2/www or whatever folder but you won't see anything happen. It just starts the web server in the background.

I have installed apache2 properly using, 'apt-get install apache2'. After i type 'service apache2 start, there should be a text that appears in console that tells me it has started. But that does not happen.

Try in a terminal window

service apache2 start

service apache2 stop

service apache2 restart
