I purchased the KAMRUI AK1PLUS Mini PC with Intel Alder Lake N97 recently to use with a home entertainment center. I'm streaming photos to the mini pc as a slideshow (using JRiver). After an hour or so the wifi adapter disconnects and won't reconnect until I reboot. Not a big deal, but irritating. I've tried going into the properties of the wifi adapter and changing the power setting so that windows doesn't power down the adapter. I also tried changing the wifi adapter from wifi 6 to wifi 5.

Suggestions?

My thought is that the problem is heat related.

Those wireless adapters can get quite hot. I have noticed that with USB wireless network adapters - especially as they age.

However, there could be other reasons and there are ways to investigater further.

On the mini PC (Windows - correct?) check Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer.

Either one or both tools may be capturing some error code, warning, or simply an informational event just before or at the time the wifi adapter disconnects.

Start with Reliabillity History/Monitor much more end user friendly and the timeline format and details may reveal some pattern.

Event Viewer requires more time and effort. To help:

No rush - take the time to look. Could take a few attempts to spot something amiss or seemingly amiss.

Post accordingly. Remember you can take screenshots and post the screenshots here using imgur (www.imgur.com).

So, if it is heat, which makes sense to me, there really isn't anything to be done, is there? Would going to 2g make a difference?

yes - just wondering if 2.4g would mean less work for the wifi adapter.

I do see an error in event log that might be relevant Event 34, Kernel-Processor-Power - Idle power management features on processor 3 in group 0 are disble due to a firmware problem.

Try it and see. It should have zero impact on what it does otherwise, but the network adapter could run cooler.
