this should not be happening on a game that's like 5 years old

also halo online lags and I do have the latest driver installed

What's the rest of the computer, could be weak cpu, not enough memory, overheating. ect.

I have an r5 1600x and 8gb ddr4

I play at 1440p but if I set the resolution to 1080p and all settings to low it still lags just as much
