Never mind, I just asked someone about the name, and she confirmed he's
in Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, not either Baldur's Gate for the PC.

No clue how to beat him.

Ah, no I know who he is. He's one of the first bosses in DA, and he's
fairly easy to beat. I don't recall using any strategy, just constant
attacking and using health/magic potions.

The trick is to move away from him, then put your shield up when he throws
his knives, then rush in and hack away, then run away and repeat.
