KB3163018 won't install - been a month like this

It's been over a month (I think) since the update came out and ever since it came out I've not been able to install the update. I've tried using the troubleshooter where it claims to have fixed a problem with Windows Update but it still fails to install. I have also tried to manually install the update but still nothing. Any idea what else I can try?

Check under Programs and Features -> View Installed Updates if the update is listed and uninstall it.

Afterwards try to reinstall it.

Wasn't in the installed updates list.

What firewall are you using? It seems this error is tied into windows defender but can also be Bitdefender

I'm currently using Zonealarm firewall. Trying running the sfc /scannow command on cmd prompt right now as suggested by a member of the Microsoft community forums. Will update with outcome later on.
