Keep getting black screen after 30 minutes of Gaming

I have this problem where I play PUBG and my screen just goes black after 30 minutes of playing. I just recently bought a 1080Ti to replace my GTX970 but its still on its way. While waiting I change my cable from 1*8-pin to a 2*8-pin cable and use it for my GTX 970 just for the moment till the 1080Ti arrives. Is this a factor that may play into the problem ? My driver is up to date which is version 385.41.

My current spec is:
i5-6600k
z170 asus pro gaming
GTX 970 Strix
16GB 2x8GB corsair vegeance

Whats your current psu?

my current PSU is RM750i

2 possible reasons:
PSU dying and while overheating GPU does not get enough juice.
GPU dying/overheating and this is some kind of thermal protection.

check temps, give us your PSU name and how long you have it.

Should be fine. Did you plug the cable in correctly (did it click?).

Should be fine. Did you plug the cable in correctly (did it click?).

yes it clicked and the LED there is white not red

Might be the GPU problem I would say.

Had both since around april-may of 2016

edit: it blacked out whenever im playing my games. The temp goes up to 60ishC berfore it blacked out and the load is always above 95% when i was palying
