Keep GPU connector caps on?

I have an Asus GTX 1060 Dual in my build. The card came with 2 HDMI, 2 Displayport and 1 DVI sockets. In the box, they were protected by plastic caps. I removed them and the plastic sheath protecting the mounting contact area before installing it.

I'm running my monitor on an HDMI cable. Is it okay if I cap the other sockets with the provided caps? I live in a dusty house, wouldn't want the connectors to get filled with dust.

Also, I noticed that the fans aren't spinning. I downloaded the drivers from Nvidia. I read that this is common on some cards till a certain temp. Mine didn't start so far, max temp I reached was 57.
Is there any value in downloading MSI Afterburner or something to set the fan curve a bit lower?

I...

I left my caps in place. The cooling is taken care of by the heatsink, fan and helped along by its shroud. Completely okay.

One thing adjusting the fan curve will do is prove the fans aren't malfunctioning. They aren't supposed to turn on until 60c but a quick test does offer piece of mind. I'd lower it from turning on at 60 to turning on at 50c. That way it'll be silent during regular surfing or whatever and will only turn on when you start to game because outside of a 3D environment it won't get that hot.
