Keep Losing Internet!

Hi!

I'm having some issues with my internet - it has only started occurring this year. I usually get 210mb/s download speed according to Ookla, as the screenshot shows, I'm only getting just over 80. This is so weird because it has never happened before.

Furthermore, when I'm playing CS and Overwatch and in general, I just seem to lose internet connection. The internet icon on the taskbar has a red 'X' very briefly and then I regain connection.

Finally, when my internet connection goes back to normal, Avast! pops up saying that it has found a connection or something and it does this many times, even when I startup my computer.

Thanks a lot!

Disable your firewall and see if the issue changes. I'm assuming your motherboard BIOS and the networking drivers are all up to date?

Thanks for the help :) I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to drivers, I rely on the system telling me when I need to update - so I don't really know :L

My motherboard is: Gigabyte Z87-D3HP, and I'm not sure how to check my networking drivers.

Here are the drivers couretsy of Gigabyte but the latest version can be found here courtesy of Intel.

Have you tried disabling Anti virus to see fit eh issue isn't from Avast? You can also try uninstalling it. On another note, are you sure the ISP isn't at fault or at least the line coming up to your Ethernet port? Speaking of which where does the LAN wire come from, a router?

Thank you very much for providing me with the driver, but which one should I use for my BIOS? F7? http://imgur.com/a/cV5Yx

Also, I have disabled avast! and nothing negative has happened as of yet; however, this may only happen a few times a night, so I'm not sure if it is the cause yet or not.

I'm not sure if my ISP is at fault, last week the internet did go down for a few hours - but my brother's PC is still getting 210mb/s DL speed. My ethernet cable comes up from my Super Hub to my computer :)

Thanks again.

Leave the BIOS off the table for now. Try working with the anti-virus uninstalled/(firewall)disabled and with the latest Intel drivers see if you see the hiccups in the internet connectivity. We can work our way into reinstalling the anti-virus and then the BIOS updates.

This means you have to followup with your results.

I've tested it out a bit and I think it may be the cause of my issue. I haven't had any more problems in the last few hours.

Thanks a bunch

Pretty much, when I'm playing games I have no firewall or anything. But I re-enable it afterwards, bit of a hassle though.
