I currently have an MSI B150 PC MATE with an i5 6500. I am curious about upgrading my CPU in the near future. I currently have...

- 2x8g g.skills ripjaw 2133mhz DDR4 RAM
-Zotac GTX1060.
-One TB HDD and one SSD Samsung 250g 750 evo
-500w EVGA PSU

Would I be ok just purchasing a new CPU and keeping my motherboard or is this something where I would keep all current hardware and grab a brand new CPU/Mobo combo? The graphics card will get an upgrade late 2017. I haven't built my own PC in quite a long time and am curious as to what would be cost effective. Thanks for any input everyone

Reading lately about VR pushing i7 and above for max performance, I tried to research swapping CPU's, but everything points towards a complete mobo swap as well. I understand my system will currently support VR, but you know how we do...we want the best or close to it :)
