Keep my gtx560?

Ok finally got my rig up and running perfectly. I bought a GTX560 about 2 weeks ago. Put it into the new rig I built this past weekend. Paid 184.00 for the card, but I've been reading about the SC TI, which gains 25% in performance and is abou 50-60 more. Should i return this? Or can I close the gap and get a little more performance out of this by OC'ing it?

The TI does perform better in and of itself. If you want, just buy a 560 TI and overclock it yourself. Granted, it won't be "covered under warranty" but depending on the overclock, it should be fine if it's minor.

Have you overclocked the card?

I have and it performs great once overclocked. I bought it over a month ago and felt the same way at one point, but overclocking it changed my mind. Its real easy with AfterBurner.

currently have it overclocked to the following:

970 core
1940 shader
2150 mem

People say its the same card as the 460 are incorrect by a mile and a half...

my specs are
AMD Phenom X4 3.0 Deneb (stock)
4Gigs of Ram DDR2 @800
MSI Twin Frozr ii 560 GTX non ti

Note that my processor is stock and im sure its taking a few frames away from me...need better cooling for it. At the time I got it for 180 after MIR while the cheapest ti was 220 after MIR..saved myself 40 bucks..

Thanks for the replies! I haven't tried overclocking it but I think I may do so, I wouldn't mind saving a bit and waiting for the next gen of vid cards. As Boris said this would void the warranty though, also what is the impact on the cards life overclocking to these numbers? If it's minimal, but I'd be bummed if my card burned out in 6 months.

In regards to the warranty, yea its a risk. Personally I got this one to hold me over till the end of next year when I plan on re-doing my machine. In regards to life expectancy, I've always been told that instead of lasting you for example 8 yrs without it, it would cut it to 5 or so ( i may be wrong but thats what i've been told). If its true, dont you think you would upgrade by then? It wont burn out if you focus on cooling, my twin frozr ii doesnt get over 70C unless its a burn in test with furmark...games like crysis 2 keep it in the high 60s but thats with the overclock i have on it which high...but this card is built for it in my opinion

the HD 6870 is better than gtx 460 non ti ..
if i overclock it, it will be as gtx 560 ti with TRIX !!
why i should get gtx 560 although am Nvidia fan, but AMD provide good price

I got my twin frozr ii 560 non ti for 180, at that price and overclock...you're at ti levels...I personally dont care about amd or nvidia prreference since i do prefer 1 card solutions as oppose to crossfire/sli...this card is only to hold me over till the end of next year...

At those number it doesnt reach above 70C unless im running a burn test with furmark...gaming, it hangs in the low-mid 60s. Just remember all card even the same models dont overclock the same..some overclock lower and other higher

Hmm tried that setting and was able to do a tom clancy benchmark but when I started up a real game it crashed the video driver and there were artifacts everywhere..

I suggest lowering the clocks until you dont see any more artifacts on stock voltage...once you successfully find a stable overclock with stock voltage, begin increasing the voltage accordingly as you increase the overclock...

just do it a little at a time, i know its sorta annoying but its necessary in order to see what causes the artifacting or whether its a successful overclock. Remember to test it after every overclock. Also do Core and Shader overclock linked if possible not everything at once.

First, find a stable overclock with stock voltage. Also keep an eye on GPU temp!

If this is your first time overclocking, please search online on proper guidelines. its tedious just because you test after each overclock but its worth it. good luck and let me know if I can help in any way.

Very good advice! Thank you, I've got a more modest OC going on right now that is giving me a solid 10% perf increase across the board. It was getting late so I stopped at that for now, think core is at 900-910 and i got the card cooler with the fan. I'll play around more with it over the weekend.
