I asked this question before and I got no responses so I'm not sure if it didn't go through or something. Anyway, I have an Acer Predator x34. I don't have my PC yet but I plan on getting a GTX 1080 with it. Benchmark videos reveal that games like Battlefield 1 and anything similar have underwhelming performance with this GPU. For example, one video showed that Battlefield 1 only got about 60-70 FPS on max settings 3440x1440. I know that is fine in most cases, but since I have a 100hz monitor I was wondering if I should switch my monitor for an Asus PG279Q, which is 144hz instead of 100. Another video revealed the same game, BF1, getting 100-120 fps on regular 1440p. I know this is just one game, but when I get this new PC, I would like it to be future proof. Anyone have anything that can further persuade me to keep or switch my monitor?

I only have one thing to say. Wait for your rig. As you saw on the videos, the frames can be different. Wait till you can test it yourself and then choose based on your frames. But personally i would not worry too much about frames with the 1080

If you have the cash I would say go for it. Battlefield 1 is a beautiful game and I am upgrading monitors for it too so I would say go for it.

Cash doesn't have anything to do with it because the monitor I already have is 400 dollars more expensive than the one I would switch to. However, the cheaper one might be better than the one I already have in some ways, which I mentioned already.
