So ive patiently been waiting for a EVGA 670 FTW deal for a month or 2 now... and im getting impatient..

There hasn't been any good deals in a few months.. which makes me think they are coming soon.

That being said, right now Amazon has the card for $400 with a $20 MIR and a free game (Metro).. which is an OK deal.. nothing too special

Does anyone seething this card come down to like $350 or so anytime soon? I'm dying to finally be able to play my games but I feel like ill pull the trigger and they will be at like 350 next week..

Thanks!

I'm gonna agree / disagree with the above comment .... I wouldn't wait on the FTW as it only has a 6 phase VRM whereas Gigabyte Windforce and Asus DCII have 8 phases making them far better overclockers.

As for the 7970,while fps per dollar is comparable, I'm not seeing it as a viable enthusiasts card given the CF and frame latency issues. The 670 comes in 2GB and 4GB versions whereas the 7970 sits in the middle with 3GB. Also if you going 120/144 Hz monitor, you lose Light Boost .

As for a break in price .... ya got a month till the 760 Ti comes out if THG is correct at $299. It's stated to match 670 performance

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Nvidia-GeForce-GTX-700-Kepler,22204.html

The GTX 760 Ti would likely be almost identical to the GTX 670, with perhaps slightly different clock speeds...... MSRP pricing for the GTX 780 is said to be between $499 and $599, the GTX 770 $399, and the GTX 760 Ti $299.

I guess i'm not stuck on it.. I have always just thought EVGA when thinking video cards..

If I were go to for the 7970 would Gigabyte be the way to go? Or is PowerColor a good brand?

BTW heres my build:

Gigabyte is a tier 1 manufacturer so yes they are great top of the line even. As for Powecolor I have had a bad experience with them and have heard allot of bad about them.

If there is a price change it is a random one day deal. AMD isn't releasing new GPUs for a while. In the mean time, AMD offers great deals. You can get games you might want to play with the purchase of an AMD GPU. Nvidia has games but the AMD deals are better. (I have a Nvidia card, so not biased just sensable)

No there will be no price drop on the 7970 or 680s for a long time yet. You could wait for a sale but I would just look for the best deal you can get at the time you are ready to buy.
Personally I always buy Open Box and Refurbished cards so that's an idea on how to get the best deal.

If you overclock your CPU, then keeping a cool environment inside your case is an important consideration. So whether you buy an nVidia or AMD based GPU, a card which exhausts all of it's heat out the back of the case will help to keep CPU, motherboard, memory, chipset and SSD / HDD temperatures as low as possible.

Negligible IMO. Just some air flow is necessary to expel the heat and keep it from getting stagnant. GPUs and CPUs do not create allot of ambient heat it's just the GPU/CPU core that gets hot the air around them "in the case" changes very little from the rooms ambient temp.
