Keeping hard drive data while changing the Operating System

So I have a 120gb ssd and a 1tb hard drive.I am currently running Windows 8.1,and I want to upgrade to windows 10.But I want to do a clean install on my ssd(to delete all of the files),while keeping the data on the hard drive.If I remove the hard drive,install windows 10 and put the hard drive back in my computer will everything work again?

Yes your data will be there. If you have programs installed, those generally won't work and will need to be reinstalled.
