Hi all,

Just looking for some advice as to why I can't keep my fx 9590 cool. At stock clock of 4.7GHz it is cool enough for gaming. But if irun occt the socket will heat up to 70c, but the cores will stay at a good temp of 40c.I turned the voltage down to 1.3375V and it's stable. I have a custom water cooling loop. It is hooked up fine or the cores would overheat if not. I have a 120mm fan sucking air out of the back of the motherboard but means I can't overclock. In the end I disabled 4 of the cores and oc the ramaing 4 cores 5GHz @1.42V which is stable and my socket temp reaches a max 57c on AMD stability test which is ok for me. Anyone have the same issue as me? I've just ordered water blocks for north bridge and mosfets will this help or anybody have any other suggestions. I'm using an asrock 990fx extreme9 and a corsair 900d case, so I have a lot of space and shouldn't get too hot in there. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

I have cpuid HW monitor. I don't see what difference it would. Make. I've tested 3 temp monitors so far and they are all the same. Like I said core temp is fine it's just the socket that shoots up.

If the block wasn't on correctly the cores would heat up. The core temps are fine, which means the block is doing its job ok. I used artic mx 4 or 5 can't remember which one of them. I used the pea method too. I have reseated it about 3 times just to make sure.
