Yeah, they really crank when you're using good reflectivity cdrom's.

The one time I used ezcda extractor, I could get it to recognized the drive as having a 'Digital Audio is Accurate' signal, just like my burners have. That's why the DAE speeds really knocked me, because the quality was there too.

Someone really needs to come out with these drives again. But I geuss (not guess) there's a bunch of people trying to read cdrw and really cheap cdr's with their multiple laser drives. The drive should be marketed with a warning: "If you are a dumbass like the chick who burned her mouth on the Mcdonald's *HOT* coffee and sued them, then you really should not be using a computer in the first place, much less this cdrom drive." Or possibly: "If you have a MBA, buy a different drive."

I think my 72x is finally dying out on me. I'm getting crc errors on files.

The motor is spinning up fine, but I bet all the dust is hampering the laser. I just vaccuumed out my computer this last weekend, and it had quite a load. I wouldn't be surprised if vaccumming out the Kenwood restored most (if not all) of it's functionality.

It'd be worth a try. I don't have any problems with mine yet.
