Kernal Driver Crashed (GPU)

I was just browsing the internet, and all of a sudden my HDMI cut out, and I recieved an error message along the lines of this:
NVIDIA Kernel driver has crashed. It has recovered.
Something like this happened to me a few months ago, and I did sort of what I did back then.
Uninstalled drivers, guru3d display driver sweep, and re-install drivers with disk my GPU came with. (MSi GTX 970)
I haven't tried to boot up any games yet, but do you think I'm safe? Should I send the card off for an RMA?
Really at a loss here guys.

This might be a problem in your OS. Try that Malware scan and SFC. If nothing helps you, I suggest you a clean install.

The sfc /scannow
prompt?
And what exactly does that do?

It restore the system files to its original state. Yes prompt. You can try that in safe mode.

Update: Malwarebytes found 9 threats, and I removed them all.
sfc /scannow says: Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
