Hi all,

I recently put in an AMD Radeon 5770 into my machine - given to me by a friend when she upgraded hers. Worked perfectly for her but not when she got a second monitor.

Since then the PC randomnly powers down every now and again (Kernel Power error 41 when I check Event Viewer), but it's only ever done so when it's left on its own, idle. Never done it (yet) while I've been using it.

Plenty of fans inside the case and recently cleaned it for dust and debris, so don't think it's heat. Double checked the power connector to the graphics card, doesnt appear to be that. Drivers up to date too.

Could it be the PSU? Is there a way to check without buying a new PSU first?

Help appreciated!

I would do a clean sweep of the radeon drivers and reinstall. That could very well be a software issue your are experiencing.
But yeah, that PS is not great. But you could rule out the drivers first before swapping parts.
