After installing AI Suite on Win10 and rebooting, my mouse and keyboard didn't work in logon screen. It works in UEFI Bios, so after reading a similar post I enabled XHCI Hand off. This didn't work. Another suggestion was disabling Legacy, this didn't work either. I've tried switching USB ports but not having any luck. I can't boot in safe mode without mouse/keyb. so I'm preparing a system recovery USB drive which will hopefully work, but any other suggestion to avoid a recovery or reinstall would be appreciated.

Solution
Do you have a win 10 installer? If not, on another PC, download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB - just a boot drive

Booting off USB means it won't use the drivers on the PC but rather default ones on USB. Mouse/kb should work.

Try running system restore
change boot order so USB is first, hdd second
boot from installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose system restore
Pick a date, if you lucky Asus AI Suite created a restore point before it installed.
PC will restart and hopefully USB works again.

Another option is try to get to safe mode but it isn't always an option when booting from USB
boot from installer...

boot from installer, on 2nd screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install

choose advanced
choose start up options
hit the restart button
choose a safe mode (it doesn't matter which) by using number associated with it.
Pc will restart and load safe mode

If you get this far, try uninstalling AI Suite though no guarantees that will fix this. Reddit link below includes an application that will remove AI suite 3 completely.

It appears the USB 3 booster drivers are what stops the USB devices working... i remember those messed with my external hdd

Solution
Thanks for your reply and suggestions, but I ended up having to reinstall Windows.

I used the USB boot drive to enter the troubleshooting menu, changed to legacy in command prompt and force boot into safe mode, but mouse and keyboard didn't work here either. I tried system recovery and had two restore points available, The first one failed due to "damage" and then disappeared from the recovery list, and the other one was created when installing AI Suite, but this also failed with same error message. It didn't disappear but didn't work either, so not going to trust built-in system recovery any more.

I ended up having to spend hours installing and setting up programs again due to what was supposed to be a simple AI Suite Update. I think you're right about the USB 3 Boost which messed things up. It looked like a good thing so I left it on when updating. I trusted Asus to provide proper solutions, but that was dumb. Thanks Asus.

Hi

Got the same problem today downloading the AI suite 3.

I got my mouse and keyboard working again after a system recovery.
When I interupted my computer 2 times while it was booting I was able to get in the automatic system recovery menu. Mouse and keyboard were working fine and was able to use them properly.

Sorry for my bad English
