Keyboard and mouse working, but not other USB devices

I have a computer that I am trying to get an old scientific instrument to work on. Long story short it came with Windows 10, I downgraded to Windows 7, and am planning on using Virtual XP to run the instrument (Getting software that works with a newer version is not an option). The problem I'm having now, is that when I installed 7, I had to go into the BIOS and enable PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse Emulation to get the keyboard and mouse working, but now none of the USB ports are able to detect any other USB devices. How can I get the mouse and keyboard to work, while also being able to use USB devices?

is it a brand name pc or a custom build?
if first, need to go to makers web site and see if they have win 7 motherboard drivers
If second, need to visit motherboard makers web site and see if they have any win 7 drivers
You are missing all your USB drivers it seems

your current mouse/keyboard are likely to be in USB 2 slots, but win 7 doesn't support USB 3 out of box.

It is an Acer AXC-704G-UW61. A quick look on their website didn't turn up anything useful as far as motherboard drivers. One other complication is that the machine is not connected to the internet so anything I need to download would have to be downloaded to another computer, burnt to a CD/DVD, then transferred to the machine.

I don't like the Acer site, i searched by the model number on their site and it comes up blank yet I found the damn model number on their site. I don't think the desktop has win 7 drivers, it only appears to support 8.1 & 10. This makes your job that much harder.

If there were USB drivers for the pc, I would suggest the easiest way to get them onto pc would be to create a small partition on c drive, remove hdd from machine, put in another pc as secondary drive, copy drivers onto partition you made, put hdd back in case and install.. that's if there were drivers.

Its like you need a specific machine built just to run that software, as the Acer isn't it unless someone can find alternate drivers.

Plug your devices in, and search for windows updates. Windows 7 is pretty good and identifying new hardware and installing the driver.
