Keyboard doesn't work after waking computer

I've read every forum on this subject but none seem to fit my application specifically. When the computer is asleep, I push a button on the keyboard which used to wake the computer. Now when I do it, I can hear the computer power on from sleep, but nothing displays on my screens until I push a button on the mouse. Once I push the mouse button, the screens wake but none of the keys on the keyboard work. I am using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. Any suggestions?

Is it a USB or PS/2 connector keyboard?

Yeah, I have it set to wake the computer too. Also did all the USB stuff in power options too.

What is the brand and model of the motherboard? Which USB ports on the motherboard do you have the keyboard and mouse plugged into?

It's a dell t7400 workstation, I have it plugged into the rear usb ports.
