Keyboard flickers on and off during startup

I have AVG PC Tuneup and it said I needed to check my hard drive for errors so I restarted my computer then it got stuck on this "Scanning and repairing hard drive 10%". I then looked for a solution and a youtube video said there was a one second gap where if I pressed any key it would skip the process. However my computer keyboard flickers on and off during start up and is off for the one second gap where I need to press a key. The keyboard is USB.

What should I do?

AVG TuneUp seems to have scheduled a CHKDSK of your PC. This checks for bad sectors and attempts to repair them.

When your PC starts up it would of said "Scheduling CHKDSK, Press any key to skip." During that stage you can press any key, after or before that you probably wont be able to skip it. If you cannot skip it you will need to wait for the process to complete, it can take a couple of hours so you will need to leave it as it checks your drive.
