Keyboard freezes after wireless ketboard installed

I installed a wireless keyboard/mouse on my dell insp. desktop and all the keyboards I have tried freeze. I do not know alot about computers but I do know it can be fixed; I just don't know how. I installed the same wireless key./m. on a laptop and had the same result, so I paid $65 to have someone remove it for me. I am running vista home basic. I can get to the (bios)- It says everything is running right but I don't understand any of that stuff if it claims everything is working properly. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution?

Try and see on the box if it supports Vista. I know that a lot of things weren't good about Vista, and maybe compatibility was one of them.
