I am using a razer blackwidow ultimate 2014 edition, i play alot of games where i constantly hold down my "w" key. within the last week or so while im holding it down, itll just randomly stop, sometimes starting again and sometimes having to let go and repress the key to make it work again. ive tried updating the driver for it, using a different usb slot, my bios is up to date, cleaned the keyboard, ive tried all i know.

Solution
Did you remove the key when you cleaned the keyboard? Pry it off and inspect.

Try to borrow another keyboard to see if the "stopping" problem goes away.

Otherwise you will not be able to determine if the problem source is the keyboard or your pc.

However (all other things being constant) if the keyboard is not working as before then it may have failied.

Just saw a known brand battery fail in a mouse - started leaking for no apparent reasons. Point being that things are not being made as they once were and should be.
Have you tried changing the repeat speed for the keyboard?

I realize that you hold the key down to repeat some action and probably at a rate much faster than individual key presses.

However, the rate could be "too fast" and some buffer fills up.

First reduce the repeat rate.

Try fine-tuning the rate: start slow and adjust the rate upwards until the problem starts again.

Try the keyboard on another computer. And another keyboard on your computer. See if the problem follows the keyboard or the computer.

yes i hold it down to continually walk forward, ive had it for about a year now and never had an issue with any games, im actually still playing the same games since when i first got the keyboard. i cant try the keyboard on another computer, i only have one, and likewise with the keyboard. once i play the game again and am able to test the repeat rate ill post back.
