Hello,

I have cleaned my membrane keyboard by taking off the top and the keycaps and washing every piece individually in warm soapy water.

I am sure they are perfectly clean now but the only problem is that when it dried completely and assembled again the keys are hard to press except when I press on the absolute center. This is especially true for the backspace which is a longer keycap, if I press on the edges, I have to press really hard and it pops down suddenly, like its sticking. I believe it is caused by the friction inside the key switch.

I have tried WD-40, silicone spray, alcohol but nothing helped. Only thing that helped a bit was a very greasy hand cream that I tried, but that just can't be the solution, eventually it will dry out.

Any tips? It's really hard to type now and it's also making a creeky sound as I press the keys.

In case anyone stumbles upon this thread searching for solution; I fixed the stickiness caused by friction in the key shafts by applying bicycle grease to each one of them. Now they are easy to press and silent again. This grease is also good because it's designed to collect as little dust as possible. (Bicycle chains, bearings, etc cant get dusty)
