Hi,
2 days ago I purchased my sister a 'used' HP G62 (b18SA) laptop for £60. Disassembled the laptop completely for a thorough clean up and replaced the old HD with an SSD. After installing Windows 10 home and a couple of apps (office, norton, dropbox, chrome and printer driver), everything was and continues to run very smoothly and surprisingly fast for a 10 year old machine.
Problem being:
- laptop keys are a little mixed up. The following keys weren't working, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. I managed to fix 1, 2 and 5 using a mapping software called "sharpkeys". The other two, 3, 4 are still causing a problem.
- When I map '3' with the numeric key 3, it ends up returning with "3p" each time
- When I map '4' with the numeric key 4, when pressing the key I get "G" in return. The mapping function here then changes the function of the letter 'G' in resulting to number '4' (basically vice versa).
Things I have tried:
1. Removed the keyboard to wipe clean the contacts
2. Deleted the keyboard driver in device manager and rebooted
3. Tried using the on-screen keyboard which was a success
4. Windows 10 is fully up-to-date
5. Tried downloading the HP diagnostics tool from the support page - it's not recognised with WIN 10.
Hope someone can point me in the right direction!!
