HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell your brother to drink his beer thru a straw when at your computer. The only thing it could be would be your motherboard definatly weird.

A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing!

Some obvious questions: Are these keyboards all from the same manufacturer? Like the other guy said, are the kids spilling juice on your keyboard? Have you tried these keyboards on another computer? Are you running the correct voltages on the power supply?

Static can be a real computer killer. But typically the k/b controller is knocked out so your m/b is f****d. If you do have a dry house or apartment and a big carpet you may need to put some sort of ground plate by the computer or on the floor that will absorb the static.

Hmm,
I worked on a help desk for a while and saw all kinds of computer problems but broken keyboards wasn't one of them. Sure I saw some broken keys but the rest of the keyboard still worked. In fact, I am typing this on the first keyboard I ever owned. A standard issue that came with the compaq presario 520 I bought back in 1994. The damn thing is litteraly brown with coffee stains and has been through more moves than I care to recall.

I advise you to try one of these "broken" keyboards out on a different computer. If the keyboard works then you have some kind of weird software/driver conflict that is arising periodically, maybe something to do with irq allocation. If the keyboard is truly broken then somehow your mobo must be frying them. In that case I think the most painless route would be to invest in a new mobo.

Mr "Fungus"! Thankyou for the swift response to my post. I am actually a tech with a computer dhop in Australia, to answer one part of your response, yes I did try the dead keyboard on 2 other systems, they did NOT respond. I have put a new motherboard and power supply into this system, but we are puzzled as to why it "kills" keyboards, could it be some sort of large static shock???
Thanks

I was reading this post mostly to find out what someone could possibly mean by Keyboard Killer hehe. Im really intrigued now after readin what you posted, as well as the others. My only question and thought is: you said you did get a new MB...is it still happening..? Only thing i could think of is, not only do you have to worry about static, because my thought was that a big enough static charge to affect your KB would undboutedly affect the MB as a whole, as well as the components on it..like was the RAM still good..tried on a diff MB..(with a diff kb attatched hehe) The other thing that popped into my head was, KB`s also get their power from the MB (except wireless ones)..if the new KBs work with the new MB...its possible (??) that maybe there was a defect on it, and that maybe it short circuted your KB. If the puter works now with new KBs and new MB, id say send it to the manufacturer and say its possibly defective, and you may even get some reimbursement for the fried KBs.
Sorry for the pain...this problem is definately out there~!
