I hope whoever reads this can help. I have searched many forums, tried sooo many possible solutions and still nothing.

I have this problem that on any random occasion, usually while playing games, where my keyboard just fails to do anything but what it should do. For example... "e" will open file explorer, "enter" will start windows narrator and pretty much everything else I don't want.

The solutions I have tried are, sticky keys off, reinstalling windows (which i might try again), Mashing the keys, which sometimes works eventually and some other stuff that people have put up on forums... Oh and it is not the keyboard because I just bought a brand new corsair k70 because of this issue and it's still happening.

I really hope someone can help, my system is windows 8.1.

(Update) What's really weird is that even the on screen keyboard does the same thing 😵

I think you may be able to just disable certain keys through some program like Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center. That's what I would try. I figured out my problem, and it was the farthest thing I'd ever thought it would be. I have LED lights set up around my computer desk, and it turns out that those lights were interfering with my computer (and my keyboard).
Very strange i don't think it's anything hardware or keyboard related. Check to see if you have a virus or also check the hotkeys (Not sure where to check them), this is my guess though. If you want to check for viruses, my friends and I recommend AVG. For malware and other things I recommend malwarebytes. Both are free

I have already got the latest norton anti virus installed and it runs scans regularly. I'm sure it'll be something wrong with the hotkeys program. Thanks for the reply though

I think you might want to take a look at the WINDOWS key. I think something is wrong with that key.

example windows key + e opens file explorer windows key + enter opens windows narrator.

the windows onscreen keyboard can interconnect with your physical keyboard. so if Wkey is pressed on physical keyboard and you click e on onscreen keyboard it will open file explorer.

hope this helps 😉

I am having a similar problem with my keyboard. It presses random keys and opens things like file explorer and the search bar and even sometimes is able to lock and shut down my computer. Mine only happens with that keyboard, though. Some people have said that a spill can cause this, but I haven't spilled anything on that keyboard. Did you ever happen to fix the issue? If so, please let me know. I'd really appreciate it.

I have an update to my situation. I figured out that it is as if I am holding down the windows key and have no way of turning it off. The only temporary solution I get is to reset the pc. That gives me anywhere from minutes to a few hours of uninterrupted keyboard use. So frustrating. It has to be software but once again, sticky keys is definitely off
