Hello everyone,

I'm new here so hopefully I'm posting this in the correct section.
Every now and then I cannot use certain keys, namely: Shift, T, Z and Backspace.

Today it has been like this all the time, yesterday and the day before it disappeared in the evening. It is a Speedlink Atmos USB device, I cleaned it inside and out about 3 months ago and it started doing this only a few days ago. I did not spill anything over it since the cleaning and no major amount of liquid ever before.

I have reconnected it and also tried different USB ports. Typing this post is an absolute PITA btw. 😉

Could an electrical problem be the cause and only affect 4 keys that are miles apart? Does anyone have any idea on how to diagnose this? A different USB keyboard works fine in the same port, so it should not be software related, correct? Is there anything simple I could check inside the keyboard?

Thank you for reading!

Keyboards can and do become faulty - - you've already proved it's the keyboard that's faulty by trying a different keyboard.
There's a printed circuit board underneath the keys, no doubt that's where the problem lies.

If it's still under warranty contact them via this online form: http://www.speedlink.com/?p=4&s=3&t=0

Otherwise just buy a new keyboard, but I would advise against buying an expensive one with bells & whistles.
(unless you have a compelling reason). Just buy a standard, budget keyboard. Mine's a standard cheap one, six years old and still going strong, used every day.
