Hey all,
So I'm having a strange issue with my keyboard and mouse. I got home last night and everything was working fine. I woke up this morning and the keyboard/mouse won't work on desktop but they both work perfectly fine in Bios (and now in safe mode).
I've been googling and trying solutions for a couple hours now including:
1) Trying USB 2 vs USB 3 and performing system restart
2) Unplug USB components and restart PC. Once restarted plug them in.
3) Tried three different wired / wireless mice and two separate keyboards
4) Perform a system restore using windows 8 disk. I restored the system to 2 points well before the issue was happening and still encountering same bug.
5) Using the "Refresh PC" option in troubleshooting (although I received an error "There was a problem refreshing your PC" - potentially because of antivirus software?)
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Update 1: Found the way to boot into safe mode using the command line. Mouse and keyboard work in safe mode.
Update 2: In safe mode there was a notification that said that two devices needed to be updated to work. I clicked on that and then restarted. Now the keyboard is working on the desktop but still not the mouse.
Update 3: So I've been able to boot in safe mode, restore the system back to before there was an issue and then restart the computer back into safe mode. 90% of the time, I get the notification in Update 2 (above). When I click on the notification and then restart the computer (out of safe mode):
- 50% of the time the keyboard and all other USB ports work except the mouse
- 25% of the time the mouse works but the keyboard and all other USB ports are disabled.
- 25% of the time nothing works.
Update 4: Got to a point above where I had mouse working. I unplugged everything except mouse from the computer and restarted. I then plugged keyboard and USB network adapter into USB 2.0 slots and everything is working. All USB 3.0 slots are not working. I have literally no idea what happened to this computer. Any idea how to get the 3.0's working again?
