Keyboard mulfunction

I have a problem with keyboard on my computer. When I click the shortcuts keyboard buttons my computer freezes (I can move the mouse but I can't make things work)
Its not a specific keyboard, it happens with all keyboards.

what could be the cause for it?

I have one too. what kind ? how old ? have you changed operating systems recently? Is your driver up to date for your OS.

I didn't do anything special. The keyboard is silverline

I found a manual for a silverline keyboard online and it stated that the multifunction keys may cause freeze up due to the resources needed to run shortcuts from that location and suggested using the Esc key when this happens . This was a known problem for windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP operating systems and because the driver hasn't been updated since 12-8-2003 this is likely an issue Vista and Win 7 as well.

I don't know what was the problem but when I reinstalled (upgrade) the windows it resolved
