Keyboard not working, wired internet not connecting after ubuntu 15.10 install

I built my grandparents a new computer, and installed linux on it to save them money. Unfortunately after the first boot the keyboard failed to work and the wired internet keeps attempting to connect for about 30 seconds, then disconnecting. The keyboard works perfectly in the bios, but fails to work at all once ubuntu is launched. Help?
