I have an old Logitech Wave and looking for an upgrade, could someone please recommend a keyboard for desktop that is/has:
- silent-ish
- backlit
- has media keys (volume up/down, play/pause, mute)
- has palm rest
I do occasional gaming (strategies mostly, come FPS), not competitive, primarily productive stuff.
I was looking at Corsair Gaming K55 but reviews say palm rest is terrible so I'm somewhat unsure.
PS: I'm used to membrane kb so I'm not sure I'll like mechanical, also it's louder.

Thank you.

To be honest if the palm rest is your problem, you can always put some cloth under it to make it more comfortable. Also you never know, maybe the K55 palm rest is just the right one for your hands.
Judging by the requirements that you stated Corsair Gaming K55 would be a decent choice, I also found Corsair K57 RGB, which is very similar to the K55 and other than the price, the only big difference between the two is that the K55 is wired and the K57 is wireless, I don't know which one you prefer, that's up to you to decide.

That's a good point. Well it doesn't matter to me if it's wired or not, I just want it to be responsive and feel good. I'm a fast typer.

I had a €20 membrane keyboard for over 5 years, gamed on it while I was little kid and basically learn to type fast on it. But then it started to act up, not register me pressing keys and I had to get rid of it. I had zero complaints, because I didn't expect it to last 5 years in the first place lol, my fingers never hurt or had any problems with typing. I bought a Redragon K557 back in January 2022?? i think ?, I know it was in early 2022, that came with Outemu blue switches, which are LOUD. Recently they started to annoy me and, since the keyboard is hot-swappable, I bought a 70 piece set of Outemu black switches for like €10, which are almost dead silent, atleast to my ears. But from my experience fast typing is a bit easier on mechanical keyboards, since for the key to register that u pressed it, u need to press it only abt 50% of the way, in other words when u hear that click from a mechanical switch. So you can realistically go 2 routes here. Either get a membrane keyboard, which is guaranteed to be silent, but your typing might be a big slower, or play it safe with a mechanical keyboard, but have to swap switches if u want it to be silent.
As you might have noticed, the Redragon K557 that I own has a palm rest, although its smaller than the one from Corsair K55/57, and its made of plastic which might be less comfortable, its not that bad, but I rarely use it, since I have big hands, but other than the palm rest the keyboard is perfect for my needs, has multimedia keys, countless RBG options, is hot swappable, etc... Also in its box you get 2 samples of red, blue (which are already installed on it), brown, and black switches, so you can try them and see which one is best you.

I would appreciate recommendations. The same criteria apply as in the first post, just mechanical maybe.

Thank you for your advice so far.
