I am in the UK and pressing SHIFT + 2 results in " (double quotation marks) being typed. No problem there. However, starting today (no change to my system afaik) this only works if I let go of the SHIFT key while still pressing 2, which is driving me mad - it's the opposite behaviour to all other keys! For example if I hold SHIFT and tap the 7 key, the & symbol immediately appears while I'm still holding SHIFT.

Any ideas how to change this back to the same behaviour as all the other keys? I've tried language, keyboard and region settings, all are still set to English (United Kingdom) so it's nothing to do with the US International keyboard layout that fills my google search results!

Thanks

NOTE: If you need to type in a password to even get into Windows to do the following, make sure you attached an external keyboard first, to get past the password. Then disconnect the external keyboard and try the following...

1. Uninstall the keyboard driver.
2. Reboot the computer (without reinstalling the driver).
3. When it restarts, it should reinstall the driver on its own.

If this doesn't work, you may wish to try connecting an external keyboard and see if it works fine. If it does, then it could be the keys themselves that are the issue.

You may also want to try updating the Synaptics Driver if the above doesn't help.
