Keyboard stopped working

Hello, I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but I have the following problem. My keyboard stopped working today and I have no idea what to do about it. I've already tried googling it, but with no results. The thing is, the keyboard doesn't work neither in Windows, nor during the boot-up (so there's no way for me to access BIOS whatsoever). I know the keyboard itself isn't broken because I tried using a different keyboard and it didn't help. There were a couple of instances where it would suddenly stark working for a few minutes, but other than that no keys seem to work.

Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Is this a usb keyboard or a ps/2 (round plug) keyboard?
