[SOLVED] Keyboard with two USB plugs not working with KVM

Hey folks, I know this is a long shot, but figured I'd ask anyway.

I've had to add a second PC to my home setup for work purposes, but I'm not able to get my keyboard to work with it. I've been provided a KVM (an ATEN CS682) by work, which has two USB ports, one marked mouse, the other keyboard. However, my keyboard, a Corsair K95, requires two USB ports to function. I requested a USB hub from work thinking that might do the trick, but even when plugging both cables into that, which then goes to the KVM, I had no luck.

Does anyone know why this might be happening? Is there anything else I can try?

For now I'm using a cheap logitech keyboard that I can't stand! I want my mechanical baby back!

Anyway, I realize there's probably nothing I can do, but just figured it was worth asking on the off chance I haven't thought of something. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Solution
Okay, never mind. I played with it more and got it working.

I randomly tried to plug just the USB cable with the keyboard indicator into the KVM on its own. It didn't work, but then I decided to plug it into the mouse port instead, and it did! For some reason the keyboard port on the KVM didn't work with anything except the basic logitech keyboard (didn't work with my mouse either), but since the mouse port seemed to work with anything, I just plugged everything into the USB hub, then the hub into that. Boom! Success!

Sorry for the wasted post. I can't see any way to delete this post or mark it as resolved... will happily do so if possible!

Which K95 do you own? They've been in existence since 2013(IIRC). The keyboard requires the additional USB port for the USB passthrough on the keyboard. Outside of that the keyboard will work with only one USB connected to your platform.

Post isn't wasted, it will serve as info for the community.

If I'm looking at the correct info on the back, it's a Corsair K95 RGB, P/N:CH-9000220-NA. It's weird that it has USB passthrough though, because there's no USB ports anywhere on the keyboard. What possible use could that have? Could it be what allows the macro keys to work, or something like that?

Never mind; thanks kerberos_20 for the explanation!

And thank you both for responding :)
