Hi, I'm having this problem from a few days ago.
Suddenly my keyboard stops working, just like that. Keys doesn't works, but backlight still on.

Is a Razer Deathstalker Picture - http://s23.postimg.org/g0tq7zh8r/Captura.png

I've been using the keyboard right out of the box since a couple of years, without the sypnase Razer driver utility (wich it doesn't supposed to be needed to standard functionality)

But recently, I changed my motherboard and this started to happen. It drives me crazy, it happens between game sessions, in where I find myself without complete movement.

Tips notes:

-Windows 7 (as always)
-It started to happen after a mobo change.
-All usb are 2.0
-It happens even with the case front usb ports
-All usb are working, mice & xbox 360 pad never stops working. (360 pad light turns off but it works)
-Light keeps on after it stops working (sometimes I restart to see if it fixes and light wont turn off)
-Never had to use Razer driver and it does nothing. Just personal features. Keeps happening.

-Mobo: Asus M5A78L-MLX Plus Micro-ATX
Previous mobo: Gygabyte GA-870A-USB3 ATX

-Double check for any cable damage: 0
-Drivers ok
-Audio is really low with this motherboard with all drivers running. (another note)
-I don't have other keyboard to test if the problem is the keyboard itself, mobo, or ports.

That's all. Any help or toughs are welcome.

Solution
This is definitely a current related issue: When you overload a circuit with active loads (such as mouse and keyboards) from time to time, when both devices require the peak current value, and this one don't come you end up with a device jammed. This also happens with external hard drives and USB sticks that are uploading/downloading datas: for a while they transfer correctly, then they stop and the transfer fails. Re-check the connections you made on the motherboard. Don't use the same source for more than 2 usb ports and you should be fine.

However, if the issue continues because the mobo will not deliver that amperage(and you need many ports), please consider buying a USB PCI-E card and you will get rid of many problems like this...

Remember: there's nothing worse than having an entire external disk corrupted by this issue.
