no matter which key I press all of a sudden I can't input a single character when typing, and it's not a timing issue RE holding the key down for too long.
To fix it untill the next time it re-occurs I had to go into Device Manger - Keyboard and delete the duplicated HID entry under the Keyboard heading.
This sorts it out for an hour or so until it starts happening again.

Does anyone have a suggestion to try and avoid this ongoing re-occurrence ?
After a few days it starts to become a little annoying

Solution
1st thing to try is your keyboard settings, open up control panel>keyboard properties
try reducing the repeat delay and or repeat rate speeds to see if that eliminates the issue.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately my PC is telling me I don't have permission to access the indexing area. No idea why.

Do I have to access it as an administrator even though it my PC and I've got admin privileges ?

tried that and it wasn't the cause.
seems like the driver (HID service) in Device Mgr becomes duplicated causing 2 keystrokes for every single press.

I had a great time trying to login ... it was impossible even the delete key was duplicating.
