Hi
I recently bought a Galax GeForce GTX 960 2gb card Factory OC edition.
I tried testing new games on it like GTA 5 and The Witcher 3 Wild hunt ,the Card temperature sometime hits as high as 80 degree celsius while in game .

My PC specs are as follows

Processor : Intel core i3 2120m
PSU : Corsair CX 500 -500 W Power Supply
RAM : 6gb DDR 3 (1333 MHZ)
Mother Board : Intel DH61BF

Should I be Concerned about the High GPU temperatures ? If Yes please suggest methods for efficient Cooling

Please Help

Thanks In advance

80c is exactly the temperature that the card is factory designed to target as its normal operating temperature. Check your Temp Limit variable in Afterburner (PrecisionX, etc.) to confirm.

Turbo Boost works by setting a target temperature, called the Temp Limit in your monitoring software (Afterburner, PrecisionX, etc.). The card will automatically adjust fan speeds, Turbo Boost clocks, and voltages to maintain a temperature at or below its target. The Temp Limit is adjustable for tweaking purposes.

At 80c, your card is operating exactly as it was designed. There will be no problems with longetivity when running your card as it was engineered to run. Unless your fans are running abnormally high, there is nothing wrong with that...
GPUS can run safely at high temperatures. Most GPUs will run fine under 90 degrees Celsius. Running the card constantly at 80 will shorten the life of your GPU, however if you only are playing at these temps sparingly then the shortened life would be unnoticeable. Another concern is the heat produced by this card could affect other components such as CPU, which don't have as much tolerance for heat as GPUs do. Make sure your case has adequate ventilation and that you have fans pushing air through the case across the gpu and/or fans pulling air out of the case near the GPU. If you are running with stock fans I might consider upgrading them to ones with better CFM.

I play around 3 to 4 hours straight so as u suggested there will be no problems . I will look into custom fans with better CFM tho as I am unsure about the stock ones in the Cabinet as the CPU core temperatures hit 90 degree celsius while playing these games .

Many thanks for the quick reply . Cheers!

Thank you 17 seconds ..Afterburner puts my card at 70 degrees by default ..I've had problems with the drivers which kept crashing midway through a game ..I thought this was due to the high gpu temperatures

Well detailed reply ..appreciate it
