Hello I've used my custom built computer for about a year now without any real issues whatsoever. I recently fresh installed windows to clean up some virus crap. Everything was great and the computer is operating at full performance after the re installation, however ive realized that my Ethernet connection periodically drops when under stress on online video games/watching streams. I understand that issues like this can be sort of hard to fix but any help would be great.

Things I have done to try to remedy situation:
-Update Killer network drivers
-Secured physical connection to modem
-Removed old windows files using disk clean up
-made sure that the pc cannot turnoff killer adapter for power
-tried using an older version of killer network

On the original ssd the issue did not exist
Specs:
-i5660k stable oc@ 4.4ghz
-1070 turboed to 2000ghz
-16gb ddr4 ram
-plenty of ventilation and cooling
-additional 1tb hard drive

Any additional questions will gladly be answered ive had this issue in the past when i had to make a new boot drive. to fix it back then someone had sent me a killer network version?
if you think it would help a quick tutorial on how to use default windows drivers would be helpful

Do you have the killer networking driver alone installed, or do you have the killer networking program? The program causes all kinds of issue with periodic drops.

Which board do you have specifically?

If you look under WLAN drivers on the motherboard vendors site, they should be specified as "Driver only" and something like "Driver + Utility". You only want the driver. Uninstall anything else 'killer' and install only the driver.

I have the MSI m3 z170a motherboard i made sure to uninstall the killer network manager bloatware that came with the drivers

Did you try to only uninstall the network manager and leave the driver? That can be problematic as they're so closely integrated.

Personally, I'd uninstall anything networking, and only install the driver.

Looking at MSI's site:
1. For Killer Onboard LAN driver without Killer Network Manager. 2. Killer Onboard Lan driver Inf file need to be install manually.
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z170A-GAMING-M3.html#down-driver

Did you follow that too?

I saw this on the support website but im not sure how to install the driver package, when i download it i just get a zip full of things i dont know how to install (sorry) is there an exe somewhere

i seem to be missing something in my device manager { select the Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, or Unknown device, } there is nothing of the sort and im kinda left stumped now, thanks for the link btw

It should be a standard update the ethernet driver thing. Was so easy to do things like this in old winxp

Since it is functional right click the ethernet connection on the bottom right of you main screen. You should get a option to open network and sharing.
The click change adapter settings, the right click the ethernet icon and choose properties. You should not be able to choose configure and then choose to update the driver.

There is likely a much faster way to get this but I have never learn enough of win10 to know.

it just said that the driver is up to date :/

when i try to do this it still persists with the same message, i understand the method of installing
