Been using a 300V 128GB SSD for many months with no problems under Win8.1PRO and WIN7 PRO Been very reliable
Just upgraded to a 240GB 300V and prepared it under Win8.1 and formatted it as I did for the 128GB one. Shows up as "This device working Ok" and appears in all opsys disk areas as present
and correct BUT it does NOT appear in My Computer at all..so I cant access or actually use it
Plugged in the old 128GB SSD to the SAME sata port..and thats OK after a cold boot ..can use the 128Gb as usual
Tried swapping SATA ports but same problem...Win8.1 sees the new 240GB SSD everwhere EXCEPT in My Computer as a disk drive..
Now a weirder bit
I have Win7 PRO on a seperate drive, choice of opsys boot through ASUS BIOS
WHEN BOOTED UP ON WIN7PRO THE 240GB SSD IS INSTANTLY AVAILABLE and I can use it!!
But it stuubornly fails to appear in Win8.1 although the 128GB SSD still does!!!

The 240GB SSD shows present under BIOS as a SATA AHCI device
and was formatted under the normal formatting during that process
Have tried both SSDs in system in different SATA ports, both SSDs appear there in BIOS,
both appear OK in WIN7, but again, only the 128GB available in Win8 !!

System is ASUS P8Z77VPRO , Intel i7-3770K ,(Liquid Cooled)
16GB Gskill 2400 TridentX DDR3,(XMP), Intel HD4000 graphics
3 SATA hard drives to 2TB each and one 4TB under UEFI
CPU clocked at 4.2GB
Stable system

Whats up folks ?
John

Hi John,
It seems like Windows 8.1 isn't automatically assigning a letter to the drive so it won't come up under My Computer. Have you tried going into Disk Management to make sure the drive is there? If it is, it should allow you to manually assign a drive letter when you right-click the partition.

Let me know if you've already tried that or not,
