this is really impressive but the amount of money depends on the amount of usage and longevity .. i bought a really expensive hand luggage for about $250 and i use it for 7 years now , also i bought archos AV700 for 500 euros about 8 years ago and it pretty much do what today players do

1 TB of Flash? That's a LOT of porn to fit in your pocket.

No really, this will probably be used in the future to boot a desktop from a Flash with the OS and it's programs installed onto it. That's just my guess. Give it a few years when the price isn't ridiculous.

Better hope they delivery something at least CLOSE to true USB3.0 speeds, or there going to be some real problems (other than price of course). One can only hope something like

I still have a 512MB drive that I regularly use (and a 128MB that only recently died). It's mostly read only in that I never add anything to it, but it's still useful. It's also indestructible. I could throw it off a 30 floor building and it would just bounce. I can't say the same for my higher capacity drives unfortunately.

What concerns me here is that Kingston does not manufacture flash chips, so why don't we hear about more of these being out there.... particularly from Samsung or Micron, or Sandisk. As much as I like sandisk products........ 128gb, 256gb micro sdxc cards for android 4.x should have been on the market 2 years ago,

If you look for 128gb and 256gb usb 3.0 thumb drives...... they are out there, but have not come down in price... The memory manufactures must have some sort of agreement that they don't release stuff that should be on the market so they can soak up these crazy prices on memory.

Now that we have this in a flash drive, we're not far away from having it in our phones. So our phones will have 4 cores, tera flash, and hopefully better graphics. Soon we'll be able to carry around a very functional computer (I'm talking yesturdays desktop equivalent). Carry it with you, wirelessly send graphics to a monitor, use a foldable bluetooth keybord, or projected one for that matter.

Smart TVs will turn back into just being receivers. I really don't see us being too far away from assigning our internet and cable access to our phones more than tying them to our homes. People already have allowed smart phones to become such an important part of their lives. Imagine taking all of your information with you wherever you go. Not just the bits that currently fit in our limited capacity phones, but all electronic information you currently have in your life.

Makes you wonder, once it's all in your pocket, where will it go next?

hmm my 16 gig thumbdrive keeps looking smaller and smaller.. fortunatly my patriot gauntlet node is also 1tb and includes a batterry and wifi to conect to my droid to stream content making me feel a little better... still very cool as this looks much smaller than a node

Really? A 1Tb jumpdrive is more expensive than a friggin' computer itself. Can't say that I agree with this at all.

I don't see security features listed in the specs above. If I have my "entire digital world" stored on this thing, I want security if I lose it. Perhaps they could include a small program that runs when installed, requires a password and wipes the thing if your fail in 2 or 3 tries.

Of course it's totally out of my price range, but I can dream, can't I?

Way better than $3000 for a 20 MEGABYTE, 5 1/4" drive in the 80's. I'm sure thirty years from now the situation will be even worse when quantum computing has been out for decades already.

We'll have to if these 4K displays become mainstream. Takes about 100gB for 5 minutes of video. I don't think Blu-Ray is in danger of becoming obsolete any time soon.

Blu-Ray is obsolete already ...... 4k and 8k video in the "disc" form factor might have "limited" support on Blu-Ray.

Do a google search for "HVD" or "Holographic Versatile Disc".

Did they not release it anymore (for this to become the "first 1TB flash drive")? I vaguely remember there being another 1TB flash drive out there as well. That memory could be wrong though.

Give it two or three years and you'll be able to get it for about $59.99.
It always happens, look at the 512mb flash drive, at first it was nearly a hundred bucks now its not worth 50 cents.

I have one 1gig 5year-old stick, one 2gig 3 year old, one 4gig 3 year old, one 8gig 2 year old and one 16gig 2 year old. I don't freaking need anything more than that to swap files from the computers at home, office or college.

I do have, though, an external 1TB USB 3.0 hard drive that i use to store content i download and that i don't want cluttering around my main storage in my gaming PC.

I'm a young man that doesn't really fit in modern times... Sometimes i feel misplaced and find other people weird by, for example, making absolutely necessary to play at 1080p, or to log on to facebook, tumblr and that kind of stuff all day, all the time. I rarely check any social networks. I do have a facebook page, but i only use it to talk for free with my actual friends. No tumblr, no tweeter, no shitter, no crapper, no slapper... whatever.

And i must say... i feel awesome. People feel the need to be different and generally try to do so adopting a strange way of life and dressing code, just to fall into another stereotype. I'm truly different in my own way, and i never met anyone that thinks and feels the way i do.

I don't have a girflriend nor am i gay, its just because i think is too much hassle for the benefit perceived. A little cuddling on a cold night? Sure. But the constant fights, decision sharing, jealousy, etc... just makes it a no-deal for me.

I guess it all comes from the strong feel i don't care what people think of me. All i'm worried about is not being an ass nor too naive and submissive. Apart from that, i'm just myself. And people, let me tell you... for real... it's freaking amazing.

I have an absolutely modest life, without giving up my aspirations as to be a successful entrepeneur, to make a difference in human history, to be the very best at one or two things, but to give no effort at all in everything else i don't care about.
