I heard Crucial was the best manufacturer. But I found Kingston 256MB pc2100 for 60$ (previously 78$) almost the same as crucial with less trouble of ordering from crucial's website. So, should I get the Kingston?

note: I'm putting it on A7A266. I heard they are "picky".

Sh!t Happens.

If the prices are about the same, go for Crucial!

I can't say I have that much experience with Kingston, but with what I have had, they perform up to spec, sometimes a little better. They're pretty reliable.

Thanks man. I put two posts and you've been very helpful with both.
I visited the site and the prices freaked me out. Then I realised they were canadian. They are right?

well, in my area (Singapore), the only memory chips i can get is kingston and samsung...
i don't have a credit card (only 15 years old), so it's almost impossible to go grab crucial sticks...
but i heard that with crucial sticks, you can actually run the CAS latency at 2 instead of 2.5, so i was wondering whether we could do that with the kingston or samsung

Definately go with the crucial. It ain't that kingston is bad - it is actually good memory. However, a cl of 2 is way too good to be passed over b/c the site is intense. Get over the complexity of the site.

 on company time....

Yep, no problem. Glad I could help. :)
That site is a Canadian store, but they are now also open to the US. Just click the "USA" button on that front page. I can't say that their regular prices are the best, but if you use their "Pricematch" system (not sure if it works for US customers), you can get parts at pretty good prices!

I decided to play it safe. I've got crucial. Maybe some other time, when it's not that important, I'd try the Kingston out.
