This has just started happening, I own a Kingston Hyper X Cloud II, and the microphone just stopped working when connected to the volume/mic switcher.

- I have checked that the mic switch is not muted.
- I have checked if the mic even works, it works when connected without the switcher.
- I have turned up the mic volume on the switcher.
- It can either be software or the USB>Switcher cable and i'm hoping its software.
- Tested on another PC and it works fine

Any help or ideas are appreciated

Running windows 10 x64
If you need system specs for whatever reason or any file/log requests I can give them upon request.

Solution
At this point too much time has gone troubleshooting, you may want to back up your critical files and then reinstall your OS making sure to disable automatic device driver updates first hand after the installation completes to prevent the OS from mixing up drivers with those online. You should at that point plug in your headset and then wait for OS to install the necessary drivers.

Keep us posted, I'm sorry was busy with other matters 😉
1| Since we're dealing with Windows 10, have you disabled automatic device driver updates? Often times Windows updates provided device driver suggestions that shouldn't be paired with your device's and is advised to manually download and install your drivers.
2| Did you follow the steps outlined in your product's manual?
3| Please pass on your full system's specs? It's at this point that you should make sure your BIOS and chipset/USB drivers are up to date.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been busy with school and work.

1. I could not find a download for the drivers on their website, only a firmware update(which I had already installed)
2. I did follow the steps in the manual
3. Specs are as follows

Motherboard - Z97i AC (BIOS ver. 4.A)
CPU - Intel i5 4690k @ 4.6Ghz
GPU - ASUS Direct CU II R9 290x
RAM - Kingston Hyper X Fury @ 2100 12/14/12/28 2T
PSU - Cooler Master 750W 80+ Gold
CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i

Edit: Slight edit on values, reconfigured my OC

That did not seem to change anything :/

Any other ideas?

Solution

I will do this later tonight, will keep you posted on progress.

Had the same issue once. How I fixed my problem:

Attached headset with mic to the little switcher first, then plugged into USB as usual. Then went to Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Manage Audio Devices > Recording. I had to turn on the mic input there.

Tested some recording on Audacity and it worked there.

I don't know if my solution could help your issue. But worth a shot, I guess?

I had already tried that, it is the default recording device.

Another thing thing to note is that on the input it says that the level is 0.0Db

Did a windows refresh, that has not seemed to have changed anything.

Just to make sure, i'm very sure this is a software related problem considering that it works on my laptop using the same setup, and it worked perfectly fine.

I'm just gonna contact Kingston support, the USB switcher box is acting up. 7.1 channel surround sound is turning on and off randomly, and it just stopped playing audio at all. The headset works fine when connected through the audio jack on my case.
