Hello,

I have just built a new system, where I used an Kingston HyperX Fury SSD, which I used successfully in my previous system. Now I face a problem, that the BIOS doesn't recognize the SSD and shows "Generic Storage Device 0576" instead. I found that if I unplug the SSD power cable and connect it again, than reboot, the drive is recognized correctly and that way I could install the OS. But I have to open the PC case every time and to this procedure, which is very annoying. I use 3 more spinning drives which work flawlessly. I tried switching all cables in every possible direction, I tried every possible setting in the BIOS, but with no success.

I will appreciate any help.

Hi,

I'm using a Gigabyte Z170X-ULTRA GAMING set in UEFI mode.

well seems I cannot reach the gigabyte web site for some reason this morning, but I would go there in their support section for your motherboard and look in the bios section to see if they have not addressed this issue already with a bios fix.

another solution is plug that SSD in a different SATA plug, boot in bios and set that one as the one to start computer from and see if it recognizes it properly.

Hi, as I wrote, I tried to switch all the cables here and there and it doesn't help. I also tested all available BIOS versions and ended with the last one.

When I set the "Generic Storage Device 0576" as the boot drive, it doesn't work - doesn't boot. It boots only after repluging the power cable - that is when the drive is recognized properly.

I tried to write to the Kingston support, but the form on their website didn't work ...
