Results from an SSD test.. any suggestions? file a lawsuit for false advertising? (ive already done everything people suggest to tweek the SSD)

Tried uploading pic but epic fail tbh.

Results:

Read Write

Seq 173.6 6.172
512K 161.0 12.50
4k 10.90 22.76
4k QD32 69.36 3.236

Using CrystalDiscMark. Is this average results? I dont think so, write speeds are terrible and even read speeds are 300 mbps lower than they advertise

The problem with evaluating your rant is that you omit any info on the critical components: the motherboard and CPU. If you have restricted bandwidth or a slow processor you may have results that vary greatly from the specs of the OEM's test system.

Hi, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support and would like to offer our assistance. The 450MB/s read/write speed is tested in ATTO benchmark which uses compressible data. CrystalDiskMark uses incompressible data by default which will produce different results. The specifications listed on our product page and the V300's datasheet show the expected results with incompressible data depending on capacity, as follows:

Incompressible Data Transfer (Sequential Read/Write)
(AS-SSD and CrystalDiskMark) 2
60GB — 150MB/s Read and 50MB/s Write
120GB — 180MB/s Read and 133MB/s Write
240GB — 191MB/s Read and 142MB/s Write
480GB — 450MB/s Read and 208MB/s Write

If you have a 60GB V300 173.6MB/s read and 61.72MB/s write would be appropriate. If you have a different capacity drive or the write speed really is 6.172 than there is most likely a problem with the drive. If that is the case, we can replace the faulty drive under it's three year warranty. Please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

Well im in UK. The product didn't even have a sticker over the screw hole. On the case it said do not remove sticker because it voids warranty.. Just a coincidence there was no sticker to start with? Or a cunning ploy to stop anyone with the replaced NAND modules getting a replacement SSD?. And yes it was brand new and factory sealed. Purchased from a reputable company.

Just so this little PR blurb which is posted by "Jewel" apparently anywhere on the internet where this is being discussed isn't the last word for any who come across this later here's the real reason why:

Kingston originally sourced the V300 drives with synchronous memory chips which performed at the rated speeds. Once they had received sufficiently good reviews to make the drive popular they switched to asynchronous without telling anyone which is when benchmarks flatlined.

Rather than fix the problem once they were called on it Kingston decided instead to just change the data sheet.

This is akin to buying a Corvette and finding a 4-cylinder under the hood. Then when you confront GM over it they say that the 4-cylinder meets their minimum requirements and that it goes 0-60 in 4.5 seconds in 45° downhill benchmarks.

You got screwed on this drive just like many others.

Kingston has done nothing to make amends for this bait-and-switch and have apparently washed their hands of the issue.

I'm not saying never buy Kingston again but be very careful from now on.
