I recently bought the Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB, Part number SV300S37A/120G with firmware 583ABBF0. I usually do a lot of research before I buy a part but this time I trusted Kingston and bought the SSD without reading all the reviews, which was bad on my part because I just found out about the problem that others are having. I know that I probably got one of the slow ones but I need to know what firmware is good and which is bad?

When the SSD came out people were saying you want to get the 505 not the 506 firmware. But I could not find anywhere a list of different Firmwares that the SSD has out currently. Since this PC is for my dad and he only uses it to check him email and watch online TV. Should I stick with this SSD or should I return it and stick with a HDD?

Version 583ABBF0 is the most recent firmware update for your SSD.

Before that the previous versions were 521, 520, & 507:

You should benchmark the SSD with ATTO & AS-SSD and see if you are getting close to advertised Read/Write speeds if you think the drive is faulty.

This datasheet will show you what speeds you should expect with ATTO & AS-SSD:

Thanks for your response.

I thought so too, that the firmware is the current version but just wasn't sure that Kingston had made so many firmware changes over the 2 years time. I am going to run some benchmark of my on once I get the system build. Just got the SSD and Case today. So far I have optical, HDD and SSD drives installed in the case. Waiting on my RAM to get here so I can finish the build. It was suppose to be here tomorrow. I will also update my scores from the benchmark's.
