Didnt anyone notice that the article says it plays 1080p, but the screen resolution is far less than that, and it doesnt have HDMI output? Is there even any method to display that resolution then? How can you even tell it supports 1080p if it has no method to show it to you?

When they say that it means you can load a 1080p video onto it and it won't hiccup/stutter when you play it. If you have a library of 1080p videos at home, you won't have to re-encode (although you may still need to transcode) them to play them on this device. For the most part, it's just marketing being marketing.

Man up and get a bigger pocket. Also, have you ever heard of bluetooth? This little wireless magic trick where you can get a headset the size of an eraser, hang it in your ear, and talk as if the giant phone was up to your head...
